BIOGEARS collaboration with ACCESS2SEA and CTAQUA

Earlier in July, BIOGEARS project coordinator Leire Arantzamendi from AZTI visited CTAQUA, a partner in the ACCESS2SEA project. This visit was to establish a collaboration between BIOGEARS and ACCESS2SEA European projects in macroalgae culture.

The first successful seedings of Codium spp in biobased ropes developed by the BIOGEARS project was conducted at CTAQUA’s aquaculture lab facilities. After summer, seeded ropes will be tested in parallel field trials conducted in esteros in Cadiz and in offshore conditions in the SE Bay of Biscay. The aim of this collaboration is to provide local aquaculture sectors with eco-friendly solutions that can create new local biobased value chains and circular bioeconomy. We are looking forward to this collaboration continuing!
